Andy Ray Talks – the podcast about Lithuanian community in the UK mainly. This is the first and the only one podcast in the UK in Lithuanian language. It became popular since the first cast on YouTube platform back in February.
How did it all begin?
I (Andrius Raisis (founder of “Andy Ray Talks”) came to the UK 10 years ago looking for the better life and new adventures. The podcast idea was in my head for many years, but only became a reality at the beginning of 2020. When the world stopped because of the pandemic, we literally have just started. Since February, our videos already been watched more than 50K times.
What proved to be the biggest challenge starting your podcast business?
The biggest issue was money and obviously still is. As the brand-new channel with no support from anywhere else, we had to find spare cash to start the podcast. We pay for everything from our own pockets. Also getting first person to come to our podcast was very difficult at the beginning: who wants to talk to you when you are ‘nobody’ and have nothing to show yet. Technical part is also a challenge - things like equipment, design layouts.
How do you think life in the new country aided your personal development?
In a big way, I have to say. In England I feel more freedom, more opportunities to develop ideas. But I guess as anywhere else - if you going to do nothing, you going to get nothing.
Which of your personal trait help you most in adapting to the new business environment?
I am the type of person who can’t work 9 to 5 and cannot have the same routine every day. I always wanted to create something for others to enjoy.
Highlights of your business journey so far?
Meeting so many interesting people and hearing many different stories. You can learn a lot from every single one of them.
Key lessons you have learned along the way?
Whatever challenge you are facing - do never stop, always look ahead no matter what.
What you do for the self and business development?
I always look for inspiring people that would like to join our team. And mainly looking for businesses to support our idea.
Best piece of advice you have received?
To only accept adequate criticism and to never stop whatever challenges you are dealing with.
Your top productivity tools?
Healthy eating, sports, lots of rest and mindfulness.
Where to next: what is your brand vision?
What we do attracts many interests not only from Lithuanians in the UK but from all over the world. We hope that we can carry on what we’ve started but we also want to grow, do it bigger and better.
When I'm not working.
I am a family man. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones and also reading books or listening audio books and podcasts.
